For those of us that live in the United States, most of us often don’t appreciate just how big and diverse the country actually is. For foreign visitors, it’s often a shock how different the cities and states actually are. Luckily, there is a lot to see, and getting around the US is not as daunting as it may seem. Here are some of the cities that you should try to visit this Spring and what you can expect!
New York City, NY
What would a list be without New York? The setting for lots of movies and TV shows, and the subject of a handful of songs, NYC has an attitude that most are familiar with as well as a few displays of that attitude that should be recognizable.
That said, a great city shouldn’t be judged just based on some of its curmudgeons. NYC, more than anywhere else in the country, has a culturally diverse makeup that makes the city incredibly vibrant, both in terms of activities and food offerings. There’s a ton to see and do as well! You can check out the American Museum of Natural History, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art! Check out the Empire State Building, and while the penny thing is an urban legend we still don’t recommend throwing any down from the top!
What better time to visit DC than the Spring? Washington, DC is actually quite famous for the blossoming of a large number of cherry blossom trees, and Spring is the time to see this happen!
Of course there’s more to do than just see trees, there are also numerous monuments to visit including the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the White House, and more!
Not to mention that almost all of the Smithsonian museums are free, so DC is budget friendly as well! Just try to behave yourself and not get into any complicated political scheming.
San Francisco, CA
We certainly don’t want you to just stick to the East Coast if you can help it, and San Francisco is probably the coolest West Coast city as far as we’re concerned. The huge tech boom in the last decade hasn’t hurt things either, but that doesn’t mean that San Francisco wasn’t already incredible, though it’s hipster population per capita is at an all time high!
Hipsters aside, San Francisco is home to many other amazing and equally baffling sights, like the view from the Golden Gate Bridge, or the San Francisco Bay and the seals that occupy it!
With windy streets and trolleys, San Francisco has some of the most interesting architecture both in the United States and the world.
How can I afford to go to all these cities?
